  • Lake Hanska Bait and Tackle is opening up again in time for the fishing opening this Saturday.
The bait shop is reopening after more than a decade hiatus due to poor fishing conditions at Lake Hanksa.
Lake Hanksa Bait and Tackle owner Craig Blackstead said part of the reason for reopening the shop is that the DNR had done a great job of improving the fishing conditions on the lake.
“Lake Hanska has all the game fish and it is well stocked with crappies and walleyes,” said Blackstead.
The shop’s address is 75267 260th St. and that puts it across from the public access on the South side of the lake.
Blackstead said his business will be trapping his own bait. He built new traps over the winter and has built some new outside tanks. The benefit is fisherman will be able to get fresh, live bait just as they get ready to put their boats in the water.
