  • Dennis Kinnetz, age 54, of St. James, died on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home in St. James surrounded by his wife and children. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. K. Christian Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour before services at the church. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com.     Dennis Marvin Kinnetz was born in Estherville, Iowa, on July 7, 1958 the son of Leonard and JoAnn (Miller) Kinnetz. He attended Graettinger Community School and went on to proudly serve in the National Guard and United States Army where he served for 10 years. On September 7, 1990, he was united in marriage to Lynette Paulson at First Lutheran Church in St. James. Dennis worked as a welder and construction worker for most of his life. He enjoyed NASCAR, camping and spending time with his family. He truly enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, watching the History Channel, and doing renovations to houses. He was a very unselfish man and always put others before himself. He will truly be missed by all of his loved ones.
    Dennis is survived by his wife, Lynette (Paulson) Kinnetz; children, Randy (Stephanie) of Estherville, Iowa, Jerry (Gina) of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jessi and fiancé Lucky of Mankato, Andrew of St. James; grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Brady and Hadley; mother, JoAnn Stueve of Graettinger, Iowa; brothers, Mark (Tammy) Kinnetz of Graettinger, Iowa, David (Dianna) Kinnetz of Estherville, Iowa; sisters, Penny Lee and Spencer Massie of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Lori Mortenson of Ringstad, Iowa; brother-in-law, Tim (Sue) Paulson of Silver Bay; sister-in-law, Tammy Olson of St. James; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
    Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Kinnetz; step-father, Gilbert "Sib" Stueve; nephew, Chris Kinnetz; mother-in-law, Bonnie Paulson; brother-in-law, Terry Paulson; and grandparents.
