Saints 10, BEA 7
Saints head softball coach in his words said the Saints did ‘fun stuff!!!’ against the BEA Bucs on Tuesday night when they traveled to Blue Earth.
It worked as the Saints beat the Bucs 10-7. What made it even more fun was when the Saints scored six runs in their last at bat to secure the win. That’s the second time that’s happened this year.
About the BEA game Coach Chapin said, “We tried something a little different tonight. We pitched Emily Bottem through the order once, and then switched to Julia Beckius.
“We just went back and forth with every 9 batters. I think it helped keep BEA off balance a little bit.
“We did a Suicide squeeze in 5th. We stole 3rd two times which led to two runs.
“We also had some great clutch hitting with two outs from Shania Hansen in 4th and 7th inning.
“Lindzey Hanson had a great night at the plate as well as throwing one runner out stealing.” Hanson got three hits, scored twice and knocked in two RBIs.
Julia Beckius got 3 RBIs and was the winning pitcher. Bottem ot two hits and stole two bases. Shania Hansen got two hits and two RBIs.
New Ulm 14, SJA 1
Heck of a way to come back after a three week ‘snow delay’ - have to play the defending state champs New Ulm Eagles.
The Eagles looked like the state champs as they beat the Saints 14-1 in a game shortened to five innings by the 10 run rule.
The Saints had three hits. Anna Haler had a hit and the team’s only RBI.
Julia Beckius and Lindzey Hanson got the other hits. Emily Bottem was the losing pitcher.
