We are all busy nowadays. As the summer approaches, our schedules seem to be filling up. The children’s activities conflict with the parents’ plans. There doesn’t seem to be enough time or drivers in the family to get the younger ones to where they need to go.
St. Paul’s is starting a Summer Program June 3rd as a solution to the hustle and bustle. The program is for children ages 5-12. Children will participate in a day full of organized activities under the supervision of qualified caregivers.
The Summer Program will run every Monday through Friday for the entire summer. The program will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will mostly use St. Paul’s and Southside Park as its facilities. Children may be dropped off and picked up anytime in between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The program’s activities will include breakfast, lunch, snack times, library activities, pool time, field trips, educational periods, piano and other music activities, and athletics. The supervisors will transport the children to and from these various activities throughout town.
Laura Knepper will serve as the Director of the Summer Program. Knepper is a rising junior majoring in Early Childhood Education at Martin Luther College in New Ulm. Knepper is very excited and enthusiastic about the potential that this summer has in store for the new program. She has many years of experience working with children. Ten years of piano, ukulele playing, and First Aid training also strengthen her résumé.
Knepper is working closely with the Summer Program committee, which includes St. Paul’s Lutheran School’s Principal, Steve White. White also sees the great potential in the new program. “This program was created in order to help parents.” says White “Through the program, children will receive transportation to their activities, supervision while their parents are busy, and a structured schedule during the summer months.”
Rates are as follows $60/30 hours or less per week per child and $110/30+ hours per week per child.
