Kilian Wehde is a senior at St. James High School. He is also the only member of his class to achieve the Eagle Scout rank and honor.
For his final project, Wehde has been installing boxes in local businesses which collect donations for the Watonwan County Humane Society.
Wehde said he started the project because he likes pets and he wanted to think of something simple that could be done to help the local humane society.
Boxes have been installed at Fleet and Farm, Super Fair Foods, Paul’s Food Pride and the St. James Veterinary Clinic. As long as members of the community continue to donate items for the humane society, the boxes will remain in place.
Wehde will be honored Saturday, May 25, at 2 p.m. in Marian Hall, St. James, with the Eagle Scout Court of Honor. The event is open to all current and former scouts and families, with a special invitation to any Eagle Scouts in the area – regardless of when the rank was achieved.
Wehde will be receiving Advanced Individual Training this summer at Fort Sill before attending college at Buena Vista University in the fall.
There are two more boxes available for any business interested in helping the Watonwan County Humane Society. Contact Kilian Wehde at 507-621-0466 if you or your business is interested in collecting donations.
