  • Congratulations to Tom Holm

  • In 1984, Tom and his wife purchased the Neche Greenhouse which became a full-service regional garden center destination. Through Tom’s efforts, over 200 trees were planted on the Neche City streets, and his 4-H club was recognized by the N.D. Forest Service at the Fargodome receiving the Tree Planters Award.

  • Tom Holm of the West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris, Minn., recently received the North Dakota Nursery  and Greenhouse Association Distinguished Service Award.  
    This is the highest award given by the organization and honors people who have made a significant contribution to the organization and the horticulture industry.
    Tom, an NDSU graduate, taught Vocational Agriculture at Walhalla, N.D., for seven years during which time, the FFA chapter consistently won the top horticulture award at the State Fair.  
    In 1984, Tom and his wife purchased the Neche Greenhouse which became a full-service regional garden center destination.  Through Tom’s efforts, over 200 trees were planted on the Neche City streets, and his 4-H club was recognized by the N.D. Forest Service at the Fargodome receiving the Tree Planters Award.  
    Tom served on the NDNGA Board of Directors from 1992 – 2001.  As President in 1999 and 2000, he helped plan and implement changes in the NDNGA structure leading to revitalization and growth of the organization. 
    Tom continues to serve the NDNGA by organizing and laying out the Trade Show each year for the Convention.  He also serves the horticulture industry with his work at the beautiful display gardens in Morris, Minn.
    Throughout his career, Tom has shared his vast horticulture knowledge as a 4-H Leader, FFA instructor, teaching horticulture classes at the Neche greenhouse and community education classes in Cavalier and Pembina, N.D.  
    He established the Neche Tree Board and served as the Horticulture Superintendent at the Pembina County Fair for 15 years.  Tom graduated from St. James High School in 1971 and is the son of Margaret Holm and the late Ray Holm.
