The St. James Chamber Board announced the promotion of Jennie Firchau from administrative assistant to executive director.
Firchau has been working in the Chamber office for the past three years and has been an integral part of the Chamber community here in St. James.
The position of executive director was offered to Firchau April 23, 2013. She had been considered in the past for executive director. The board decided to offer her the position before opening it up to other applicants. There are no immediate plans to hire a new assistant, but the transition has been smooth for Firchau.
“I’ve expanded on what I know and my passion has grown,” said Firchau.
Firchau said she is ready and looking forward to building relationships with business owners and finding new members for the Chamber community.
Chamber events will remain the same with the new Chamber director – including the upcoming golf tournament and Railroad Days.
“I am also a St. James School Board member,” said Firchau. “So, of course part of this vision for myself in this position, is completely bridging that gap between school and community and just finding more ways to work together, especially in today’s world where we really can’t have one without the other.”
Firchau grew up in the area and is well-known amongst the St. James community. She hopes to dedicate time toward visiting with business owners and helping local business get the most out of their chamber membership.
As always, the chamber office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Friday morning until noon.
