  • During a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) investigation two men were arrested with ties to a methamphetamine distribution ring in Minnesota and Iowa.
Ricardo Camberos-Valle, 26, and 25-year-old Juan Jose Lopez were arrested at the River Hills Mall in Mankato Monday, May 6 after BCA task force agents set up the purchase of five ounces of meth in the mall parking lot.
The men had been tailed from a St. James residence that was previously linked to drug buys by the BCA. After the arrest the house was searched, but the results of the search have not yet been released.
Agents have been tracking the drug distribution ring since early February. They have made buys in Mankato and St. James, one from the alleged leader of the organization – 24-year-old Francisco Orozco-Padilla.
Law enforcement has also confiscated as much as $171,000 from the drug distribution ring. Officers were able to track the vehicles of Orozco Padilla, Camberos-Valle and Lopez from a house located at 123 Seventh Ave., St. James.
According to the complaint, Lopez delivered meth to an agent in the mall parking lot while Camberos-Valle went into the mall food court. Lopez was arrested in the parking lot. Camberos-Valle appeared to be sending texts out to individuals warning them of the arrest before he too was placed under arrest by the BCA.
An arrest warrant was issued for Orozco-Padilla in connection with the arrests earlier this month. Information from the South Central Drug Investigation Unit aided BCA officers in the arrest of the individuals.
