Ruby Shellum, age 88, of Madelia, died on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with Pastor Bringle officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel, in Madelia from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour before services on Wednesday. Ruby Emma Shellum, the daughter of Carl and Tillie (Schwartz) Ekstrom was born on September 3, 1924 in Butterfield. Ruby was united in marriage to Irwin Shellum on October 23, 1949. This marriage was blessed with one son, Robert. Ruby and Irwin made their home on a farm near Godahl. Ruby was a volunteer at Luther Memorial Nursing Home. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.
Ruby is survived by her son, Robert C. Shellum of Parachute, Colo; one grandchild and one great grandchild; brother, John Ekstrom of Butterfield; sister, Marcella Vatndal of Mankato; and six nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Irwin.
