New Ulm 5, St. James 4
The early season winning streak of the St. James A’s was stopped at two when the New Ulm Brewers came to town on Wednesday and topped the A’s 5-4.
The Brewers got to A’s starter Chris Menssen early scoring four runs in the second inning. The A’s scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to 5-4.
Springfield 3, A’s 0
The A’s offense could only come up with two hits in Springfield Sunday and were shutout 3-0.
A’s starter Joe Hager (0-1) pitched a complete game and held the Tigers scoreless through the first four innings. For the game he gave up just six hits while walking three and striking out five. Two of the Springfield runs were earned.
The A's return home for a three game home stand, hosting the Essig Blue Jays on Wednesday, May 22 at 8:00 pm, the Redwood Falls Redbirds on Monday, May 27 at 7:30 pm and the Sleepy Eye Indians on Wednesday, May 29 at 8:00 pm.
