Maurine Burgetta Enge passed away peacefully on March 15, 2012, at the age of 91. Private services were held at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, Arizona. Her family is grateful to the staff at Silver Springs Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for the loving kindness and extraordinary care they provided Maurine.
She was born in Kanawha, Iowa on April 21, 1920, to Cora and Elmer Engstrom. She graduated from Kanawha High School and attended Iowa State University. On July 6, 1940, Maurine was united in marriage to Dr. Clifford O. Enge. They began Doc’s veterinary practice in Butterfield, Minnesota. After military service, they moved to St. James, Minnesota and remained there for 24 years. They then moved to Green Lake in Spicer, Minnesota, where Clifford worked for the USDA, and retired to Green Valley, Arizona, in 1983. Maurine was very active in their church, teaching Sunday school and participating in the ladies’ organization wherever they lived. They loved golf, and Maurine was President of the club auxiliaries at St. James and Little Crow Country Clubs, and was active at Desert Hills Country Club. She also supported Clifford in his business and civic endeavors, including being named President of the Minnesota Veterinary Association Auxiliary.
Maurine is forever in the hearts of her daughters, Suzanne Suchecki and Stephanie (Al) Stockton; grandchildren Stacy (Gary) O’Grady and Beth (Phil) Mitchell; great grandchildren Megan, Sean and Mark O’Grady and Gemma and Holly Mitchell; her sister-in-law Bessie Engstrom and many nieces and nephews.
Maurine was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, her parents, her two brothers, Edward and Paul Engstrom, and son-in-law Jim Suchecki.
This lovely, beautiful and gracious lady is greatly missed by her family.
