  • With legislative news, our Governor and both Houses at our State Capitol voted, as a majority, to reduce the parental fee paid by those with children who have disabilities, bringing a feeling of relief to many who have had to dig into their life savings to gain special services for their children. Premiums have been reduced to 2010 levels for parents of children under 18 years.

Special Olympics athletes are training for track and field. A couple of athletes from St. James participated with Martin County athletes at the track and field day in St. Peter. Marci Doll is the coordinator for Watonwan county for sports, Learning Unlimited, and is currently busy with tennis athletes.
The annual picnic for people with disabilities will take place on Tuesday, June 4, in Madelia’s Park, large shelter house, beginning at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share, your own plates and cutlery. Hot dogs and ice cream will be provided as well as soft drinks and coffee. We will have the pleasure of Arnie Anderson playing his accordion for us as we eat.
