  • Long time St. James sixth grade teacher Kyle Blomgren has accepted a sixth grade teaching position with the Mt. Lake School District.
Blomgren, who has been a finalist for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award and has won the Golden Apple Award, was told this spring his teaching assignment for the year 2013-2014 in the St. James system would be as a second grade teacher.
This move by the administration concerned people as to whether this might cause Blomgren to leave. At the last St. James School Board meeting approximately  25 St. James students attended the meeting  and numerous citizens spoke out against the administration’s move.

Over the last weekend Blomgren told the Plaindealer he had accepted a teaching position with Mt. Lake pending the Board’s approval.     The Mt. Lake School Board held a special meeting on Monday to hire Blomgren according to a person in the Mt. Lake Superintendent’s office.
