  • A distraction device commonly known as a flash bang was used during the entry of the residence to distract the occupants and the large dogs known to roam the home. The noise from the flash bang could be heard blocks away. The device worked as planned; no occupants or dogs were harmed during the entry of the home.

  • On Monday, June 3, 2013 at approximately 10:50 p.m. agents of the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force along with officers of the St. James Police Department, the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office and the Southwest Minnesota H.E.A.T (High Risk Entry& Arrest Team) unit served a search warrant at 1112 8th Ave No. in St. James.
    A distraction device commonly known as a flash bang was used during the entry of the residence to distract the occupants and the large dogs known to roam the home. The noise from the flash bang could be heard blocks away. The device worked as planned; no occupants or dogs were harmed during the entry of the home.
    Arrested was Bradley James Dougherty, age 21. Dougherty is being chared with felony fifth degree possession of a controlled substance.
               
    Dougherty is currently being held in the Watonwan County Jail and will be making his initial court appearance on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
    The matter is still under investigation.
