Oren Flohrs, 83, of Fairmont, formerly of Galena Township rural Ormsby, was called to his eternal rest on Monday morning, June 10, 2013 at his home in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church. A Celebration of Life service for Oren will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Galena Township, rural Ormsby, with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery in Galena Township, rural Ormsby with full military honors by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont. Oren Victor Flohrs was born on January 21,1930 to Harry and Sophia (Drayfahl) Flohrs in Waverly Township, Martin County. He was received into the kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on February 9, 1930 and later reaffirmed his faith at his confirmation on April 18, 1943 both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township. Oren attended rural school District #115 in Martin County and later was a 1948 Graduate of Triumph-Monterey High School. Oren was raised in the Ormsby and Trimont area. On January 16, 1951 he entered the United States Army. On May 11, 1951 he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Ogren at Immanuel Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived at Camp Rucker in Alabama. Oren was honorable discharged on October 12, 1952. They returned to the area and farmed and raised their family. Beverly died on June 18, 1999. On March 27, 2004 he was united in marriage to RaLetta (Rae) Colby-Fluegel at Immanuel Lutheran Church. After their marriage they farmed in Galena Township until recently moving to Fairmont. Oren was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and held many church positions. He was a member of the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont. He was active in 4-H programs and served 15 years as County Ag Society Board of Directors and completed 45 years of showing gurensey cattle at the Martin County Fair as well as many years showing at the Minnesota State Fair. He was a retired guernsey farmer. Oren also served on both the regional and state Level of the Guernsey Cattle Club and also on the county ADA as well as Beling Regional ADA Secretary for 15 years. He served on the board of directors of the Tri-State Milk Producers, Ormsby Grain Company board, served two terms as secretary on the MC Historical Society board, 25 years on the Galena Township Board as secretary. Oren and Rae enjoyed spending their winters in Rockport, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, RaLetta “Rae” Flohrs of Fairmont; his three children, son, Steve (Connie) Flohrs of rural Ormsby, daughter, Sheryl (Greg) Hanefeld of Windom, and son, Kent Flohrs of rural Trimont; step-daughters, LaRee (Terry) Rowan of Eagan, and Shelly (Ken) Vlieger of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy Flohrs of Truman; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
