The biker movement made its way to St. James Saturday, June 15, as bikers of all ages enjoyed the Bike St. James event.
There were more than 30 individuals who participated in Bike St. James which was anchored in the parking lot near the tennis courts at St. James High School, but took place throughout the city.
Bike Alliance of Minnesota was on site to provide bike safety training and to inspect the bikes of any interested participants.
The Bike St. James event was made available through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Health Statewide Health Improvement Program and donations from local businesses.
Bike St. James encouraged riders to enjoy any of the great bike paths in the St. James area and promoted the health benefits of biking. St. James streets were patrolled during the event to maintain safe travels for all of the participants.
Prizes were awarded throughout the day. Given away were four $50 Gift Cards to True Value, bike helmets, bike lights and more. There were also refreshments served during the event.
This was the first year the Bike St. James event was held in St. James. Event coordinators are hoping for Bike St. James to grow in the upcoming years and become one of the more popular celebrations for St. James. Expect more fun activities to be provided as the annual Bike St. James event continues into the future.
