An exciting day is planned for St. James during the Fourth of July celebration.
There will be music, ice cream and fireworks provided for anyone interested in a fun afternoon in the St. James area.
The Fourth of July or Independence Day is a national celebration of the day the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776.
As a national holiday, most people get the day off to spend with their family and enjoy traditional holiday events such as fireworks, parades and back yard barbecues.
The city of St. James will be holding a concert in the park on Thursday, July 4, in Memorial Park. The concert will feature Gerry Buse and Friends, who play a variety of different music.
There will also be an ice cream social put on by the opera house restoration committee.
These events will take place in the afternoon of the fourth.
That evening at dusk a fireworks display will take place at dusk. Funds for the fireworks are provided by the St. James VFW and VFW auxiliary.
