The average high temperature for St. James in June was just a shade below the average for the month. That average temperature 79 degrees F.
June 2013 had an average temperature of 78.4 degrees. Breaking that number down a bit further, the first 15 days of the month had a cool average of 72.4, but the last half of the month warmed up and the average high for that period was 84.4.
At least there was no blazing heat wave in the second half of the month, as St. James recorded just one 90+ day. It hit 91 on June 20. The coolest temperature was the low of 46 degrees F. on June 3.
The rainfall amount for the month was above average. The average for June is 4.47 inches and June 2013 had a total of 4.78 inches. At least it fell as all rain. June was the first month of the year where it didn't snow!
The bad news about the rain was that if fell over enough different days that it slowed farmers down from getting their crops in. Planting was behind the pace from last year and the five year average.
The good news about this wet spring is that the drought that gripped the region much of last year is officially over.
The U.S. Drought Monitor Index removed dry and or drought conditions from most of Minnesota on June 25.
The first ten days of July are forecast for temperatures to be just around to a little above average.
AccuWeather.com is predicting St. James will have near normal high temperatures for July. The average high for the month is 83. It's monthly forecast currently shows no days where the temperature gets into the 90s. That would be a great July.
