The A’s are now 5-10 on the year, 5-9 in the Tomahawk East League.

Stark 8, A’s 4

A six run inning by the visiting Stark Longhorns proved too much for the A’s to overcome last Wednesday in St. James.

Joe Hager got the start for the A’s and tossed a scoreless first inning but got in trouble in the second.  Hager left the game with one out in the second after giving up six earned runs on six hits and two walks.  Hager (0-3) was charged with the loss.  Stark added two more runs in the fifth.             The A’s offense tried to get back in the game with three runs in the  fifth inning. Singles by Craig Nelson, Anthony Stordalen and Ryan Menssen keyed the rally.  The A’s added another run in the seventh.
Essig 9, A’s 5

The A’s got off to another bad start on Sunday in Essig as the Blue Jays scored four in the first on their way to a 9-5 win over St. James.

A’s starter David Krause went five and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs on seven hits.  He struck two, walked four and hit a batter.  Matt Dahl and Dusty Pfeiffer finished up in relief.

The A’s again had a difficult time getting the offense going, being held to one run on just two hits until the seventh inning.

The A’s did take a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double form Ryan Menssen.  They scored one in the eighth and added a three run ninth to make the final 9-5.

Krause (4-2) was charged with the loss.  Anthony Stordalen went three for five and Ryan Menssen went two for five.

Ryan Menssen and Joe Hager each had two RBI.
