  • An estimated 500 St. James High School alumni attended various functions and activities of the St. James All School Reunion, which was held the weekend of Railroad Days according to Pam Runge of the District 840 Foundation.
Pam said she was aware of at least nine or ten classes that had special class reunion meetings in addition to graduates from other St. James classes that attended other events.
According to Pam the benefit of the All School Reunion is, "You get to see more than just your classmates. You see the friends of your brothers or sisters from another class. Who babysat you or who you babysat."
She emphasized it's about the larger community that goes together to make up a person's experience of growing up in St. James and not just someone's high school class. You experience the community in growing up in a town and the All School Reunion brought much of that experience back for those who attended.
There were some 150 people who preregistered, and 75 alumni who registered at Armstrong on the Thursday and Friday of Railroad days as well as another 90 plus that signed up at the businesses downtown. The balance of people attending showed up at events. Alumni from both the West Coast and the East Coast made the trip back to attend the reunion.
Pam was already thinking about ways to improve the next All School Reunion. She liked the idea of doing it at the same time of Railroad Days as both events can attract folks who have moved away from St. James.
She thinks the next All School Reunion will be held in either four or six years. It won't be five, because she wants to be able to have the All School Reunion fall on a year when it will be other classes chance to have the event fall on their 10th, 20th or 25th reunion.
