  • St. James VFW Post 1914 went 1-3 in baseball action, but had a great win on Monday to end the last week on a positive note.
    St. James beat Lake Crystal 5-3 on Monday. It was a makeup game from an earlier cancellation.
    Post 1914 rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to win.
    Ryan Witcraft knocked in the tying run and then scored the go ahead run on Tyler Witcraft's double.
    David Bradley started the game and went five innings allowing two earned runs. Dylan Wolle relieved Bradley and got the win.
    Ryan Witcraft had two hits while Tyler Witcraft, Bransen Petersen, and Dylan Wolle each had one hit.
    Last Wednesday VFW hosted Fairmont and lost 17 to 4. Four Post 1914 pitchers gave up 17 runs on 13 hits.
    Dylan Wolle took the loss. Offensively Tyler Witcraft had two hits and one RBI.
    St. James got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first as Brady Halvorson smashed a triple to deep left center field and scored shortly thereafter. Christopher Jones had a hit while David Bradley had one hit and two RBIs.
    St. James got swept in a doubleheader by visiting Arlington on Saturday. It wasn't pretty.
    Arlington won the first game 11-0. Derek Meyer started and took the loss. Christopher Jones pitched 4.66 innings giving up only two runs.
    St. James was out hit seven to six by the visitors but Post 1914 gave up nine walks.
    Josh Stordalen, Christopher Jones, Ryan Witcraft, Jaren Skarphol, Austin Heffle, and Derek Meyer each had hits for VFW.
    Arlington beat St James 16-0 in the second game. Arlington blew the game wide open when they scored 10 runs in the second inning. Brady Halvorson started and took the loss.
    St. James only had two hits. They were by Max Svalland and Brady Halvorson.
    VFW's next home game is Wednesday, July 10. They host St. Clair with the game starting at 6:30 pm.
