Late last week, construction projects on 10th Avenue North and 11th St. North began, leaving some in the area out of water.
City officials have done their best to keep the community informed, offering to answer any questions in a public forum last Wednesday and emailing alerts to citizens who signed up for the program.
The construction project will be taking place for several weeks, while crews attempt to repair and replace water mains. This comes on the eve of a mill and overlay reconstruction project which will take place on these roads next year.
Valves will be shutting off temporarily while the project is moving forward. Members of the community can visit the city of St. James website to see when their water lines might be shut off. They can also see updates on the city Facebook and Twitter pages, or sign up for email and text notification at the city "notify me" function on the website.
Although there have already been some delays, the project is expected to be finished by Aug. 23.
The city wants to thank residents who have been affected by water outages for their patience while this construction project is taking place.
