  • Sewer, water line and improvements to the road surface at Tenth Avenue in front of St. James High School were supposed to be over before the start of the school year on Tuesday, Sept 3.
The road construction may not be finished as work was still underway as of the middle of this week. The project had some starts and stops this summer and did not really get going until August.
As of Tuesday afternoon of this week, Tenth Avenue was dug up in several places. Using Tenth Ave. you could not drive between the High School parking lot in front of the tennis courts and the Northside parking lot.
Because of the current status of the construction project, the St. James school administration met early this week and has developed a plan that will be implemented if necessary.
According to School District Superintendent Becky Cselovszki, "If construction, is substantially completed, busing will run normal.
"If construction continues into the start of the school year, all students K-12 using the district busing will be dropped off and picked up at Northside's bus look."
The Superintendent advises parents and student to check the District website as school approaches, " We will add any updates on the school's website."
Cselovszki said, "We have been told that there is a possibility of the work being completed by Tuesday. " She also agreed with a question that it did not look probable that work was going to be done.
The Superintendent said, "The city is aware of our plan at this point and has assured us that it will be a viable option come Tuesday.
"If it is not, we will run a robo call to our parents with the next plan."
