The Madelia Community Hospital and Clinic offered a strength and conditioning camp for the volleyball team at the Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center (LCARC) this summer.
The camp’s purpose was to improve each athlete’s speed, agility, strength, power and conditioning level for the upcoming volleyball season. It was designed to reduce the potential for injury and geared specifically for the female athlete.
The strength and conditioning camp was held Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. from July 9 to Aug. 1. The athletes used the gym and weight room at the LCARC for their training.
Five student athletes registered for the program presented by Jim Hitchcock, MPT, ATC from Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic.
“The girls worked hard and made large objective changes in just four weeks,” said Hitchcock. “Each should notice a difference in their abilities this volleyball season. We hope to expand the program next season.”
In addition to the strength and conditioning camp, the Madelia Community Hospital and Clinic offers physical therapy for all ages at the LCARC. You do not have to be a member to have physical therapy there. Call 507.642.5211 to schedule an appointment in Lake Crystal or Madelia.
