Last Sunday, Aug. 11, the St. James Historical Society held a Family Fun Day at the Historical Museum.
Kids had a ball playing all the "games of yesteryear" like hoop roll, croquet, ring toss, drop the clothespin in the bottle, jacks, marbles and hop-scotch.
There was also a tug of war rope ready and gunnysack races with real old fashioned gunnysacks for the children.
All participants enjoyed hand-cranked homemade ice cream and yummy bars. Many people came to look through the museum with all the St. James memorabilia neatly displayed.
On a special kids test, there was a "find" a Minnesota map with county information or "find" a green salt and pepper shaker with a business name on it or "find" Governor Hammond"s hat or how many cigar factories were in St. James and many more things to search for. One little girl and her mom found every one of them.
The Historical Society served Hot Dogs, beans and chips, as well as the homemade vanilla ice cream and bars.
The Historical Society encourages members and all St. James families to participate and learn about the history of St. James.
