Merlyn (Merle) Houge, Age 71, of Stillwater and Estero Fla., (formerly St. James and St. Paul) passed away peacefully in his sleep of cancer on August 31 2013. Services will be held at Bradshaw Funeral and Cremation Services and Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd West, Stillwater,. Merle was born in Lisbon, N.D., and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. He served in the United States Air Force and tirelessly worked his way through the ranks of a distinguished 30-year career at United Parcel Service (UPS.) Merle was a member of the American Legion and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW.) Merle loved spending time with his friends and family, especially the grandkids and he loved playing golf. Merle was a great and dynamic man who lived his life to the fullest, who always had a laugh and was quick with a smile. He taught us all many things and will be deeply missed.
Merle is survived by and was surrounded by his loving family, including his caring and loyal wife Janet, who stood by him for 52 years of marriage; children, Michael (Fi Hjordis), Theresa (Daniel) Trullinger, Jeffrey (Stacy), Traci (Robert) Epple; brothers, Steven (Eva), Jack (Sharon) and James; and sister Sandra (Butch) Neuenfeldt. Ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many uncles and aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Violet Houge; and daughter, Michelle Houge.
