John Aden, Jr. age 80, of St. James died on Tuesday, Sept. 03, 2013, at his home in St. James. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James with military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard. John Albert Aden, Jr. was born February 18, 1933 near Godahl, the son of John and Fredrika "Margaret" (Menssen) Aden. The family moved to St. James when John was three years old. He attended St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Parochial School and St. James High School graduating in 1951. He worked at St. James Bottling Co. from 1951 to 1953. John served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Completing his military service he returned to St. James and the St. James Bottling Co. where he worked until 1964. John then went to work for the Watonwan County Highway Department where he worked until his retirement in 1993. John was united in marriage to Sandra Nundahl on January 5, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. They were members of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James where he served as a youth counselor, on the usher staff and as church treasurer. John enjoyed bowling, woodworking and traveling.
John is survived by his wife Sandra Aden of St. James; brother, Raymond Aden of Mt. Lake; sister, Wyona "Sis" Yackel of St. James; brother-in-law, Wally Nundahl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Jean; parents; brothers, Garrelt, Donald, Wallace; sisters, Gebka Curry, Malinda Aden, Emma
Rempel and Edna Anderson; brothers-in-law, Ronald Nundahl, Oliver Anderson, Merk Yackel, Sylvester Curry, Frank Rempel; sisters-in-law, Barbara Aden and Elvona Aden.
