At Northside Elementary on the first day of school on Tuesday ‘No Exit’ does not describe the name of a Jean-Paul Sartre play, but the fact a vehicle could only enter the school’s drive way from Park Street, but could not exit the parking lot because 10th Ave. was blocked off at both Jackson and Park Street. There was a complete block off of 10th Ave. between Park and 11th St. Every street entering 10th Ave. near the two St. James schools was under some degree of construction. Large blocks of the 10th Ave. pavement were cut out on every block between St. James High School and Armstrong Blvd. School did start despite the traffic problems. Construction crews were not working to complete the project the time this photo was taken at 9:15 am Tuesday. The City of St. James has posted on it’s website the following directions for drivers entering the schools.
