The Saints volleyball team fell to a tall Jackson County Central team Tuesday night at JCC High School losing 3-0.
Saints Head Coach Steve Chapin said, "JCC starts 3 players that are six feet or taller." The Saints have no players approaching that height.
The scores of the three games were SJA 10 - JCC 25; SJA 9 - JCC 25 and SJA 13 - JCC 25.
As might be expected with a sweep in some areas the stats were meager for the Saints. SJA had no blocks in any of the three games.
Julia Beckius led the team in kills with seven and Katy Hedlund had three.
When you're on the losing end there are not likely to be many assists. Emily Bottem had nine assists and no other player had an assist.
Liz Reckow was eight for eight on successful serves. Allison Brandts was six of seven and Brenda Cervantes was six of eight in serving.
Two Saints were in double figures in service receptions. Julia had 16 and Allison had 10. Liz had four digs. Allison, Julia and Lyndsey Haler each had three digs.
Commenting on the Saints overall play Coach Chapin said, "We just could not control JCC's tough serve. They controlled a lot of points with a tough serve.
"JCC also has a solid, balanced team throughout. When we played the first ball well, we did things pretty well.
"We will be working on our serve receive to make this better down the road. Our serving was pretty effective and we were very aggressive with the serve."
