Saints sweep two matches

Saints win 7-0 over Redwood Valley

The girls tennis team got its second sweep of the week when they blanked Redwood Valley 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The number three ranked Saints won all matches in straight sets by comfortable margins.

The Saints starting lineup looks like it has been established for the year as SJA had the players on the court in the singles and the doubles matches.

Lorena Hernandez won at one singles 6-0, 6-3; Julia Boeve won at two 6-1, 6-1; Aubrey Eckstrom blanked her opponent at three 6-0, 6-0 and Taylor Nordhausen won 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles Acacia Foss and Ashley Frederickson won at one 6-2, 6-0; Hannah Christenson and Anna Haler won 6-1, 6-1 and Morgan Sandmeyer and Alejandra Trapero won 6-3, 6-2.

Commenting on this the Redwood Valley match Saints Head Coach Les Zellmann said, 7-0. "We did control all matches. We are doing a great job 'grinding' out points in singles."

"Our dubs teams are doing a good job with looking for angles with volleys and the decision-making with choice of shots."

SJA blanks River Valley

The Saints girls tennis team hosted River Valley last Thursday and came away with a 7-0 sweep. The match was started an hour later because of the heat, but the Saints were hotter than the weather.

All four singles players and the three doubles teams won in straight sets for the Saints.

At one singles Lorena Hernandez won 6-1, 6-0. Both Julia Boeve at two singles and Aubrey Eckstorm at three singles won their matches by shutting out their River Valley competitors 6-0, 6-0.

Taylor Nordhausen finished the action on the singles side winning over her River Valley opponent 6-1, 6-2.

Acacia Foss and Ashely Frederickson won their match at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-0.

Hannah Christensen and Anna Haler played the closet set of the afternoon winning the first set 6-4. The Saints seniors blanked their River Valley opponents in the second set 6-0 to win their match.

Morgan Sandmeyer and Alejandra Trapero cruised to an easy victory at No. 3 doubles 6-1, 6-1.
