  • Animal lovers get ready, it is that time of year again – the annual Walk for Animals and all new Family Fun Day celebration is scheduled to take place Sunday, Oct. 6.
Residents of the St. James Area can join Humane Society volunteers and other area residents during this year’s walk to save the animals of Watonwan County.
Bring your pet to take part in the walk for animals, or just come on your own, everyone is welcome. The event starts at 12 p.m. with food and refreshments being served. Food includes hot dogs, chips, beans, soda and other treats.
Also starting at 12 p.m. there will be kid’s games, live music, face painting, vendors and balloon animals – activities for the whole family.
Contests for prizes will begin at 1:30 p.m. Awards will be handed out to pets and owners in these categories: best singer, best costume, cutest pet, most spots, best trick, smallest pet, largest pet and longest tail.
If an individual raises $50 or more they will qualify for some great prizes from the Humane Society including t-shirts, pet beds, igloo dog houses, dog car harness, crocheted pet blankets, dog coats and more.
Pledge sheets can be found today at Paul’s Food Pride, St. James Veterinarian, Alliance Bank and Sunshine foods. A pledge sheet can also be downloaded at www.petcompany.petfinder.com.
For those interested in taking part in the walk, that event will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Don’t forget to bring your pet and family to an exciting day at the Watonwan County Fairgrounds Sunday, Oct. 6.
