The St. James High School Saintettes are thrilled to announce they have been accepted to participate in the Outback Bowl pre-game and half-time events.
This will be a performance tour with Just For Kix in Tampa, Florida from December 28, 2013 through January 3, 2014. Dancers auditioned at the Just For Kix Storm Lake, IA Camp June 30-July 3.
As one of the winning teams, the Saintettes will join dancers from around the country who will come together in December in Tampa where they will practice their routines and perform at Raymond James Stadium on New Year's Day in front of over 60,000 SEC and BIG 10 football fans.
While in Florida, the Saintettes will also enjoy time at Clearwater Beach, Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens.
The Saintettes advisor Beth Johnson said, “This is an opportunity of a lifetime for our dancers and hope we receive community support and we fundraiser our way to Tampa, FL.”
To make this opportunity of a lifetime come true, the Saintettes will need to have several fundraisers. The dance troupe will be hosting a fish fry on December 14, and a brunch/silent auction on October 6.
The Saintettes will also be selling candy bars and sweatshirts. There are donation cans at several area businesses and some local businesses are selling sponsor slippers.
Becky Haycraft is teaching a Zumba class in Godahl with part of the proceeds going to the team. The team will also be looking for sponsors or donors.
Beth Johnson said, “I am so incredibly proud of these girls. They worked extremely hard at camp. They attended camp classes all day and then spent their evenings practicing and perfecting the Outback Bowl tryout dance. Their tryout was outstanding and they definitely deserve this incredible honor. It is an honor to be their coach.”
