  • Kathryn Koob will speak at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church, rural Hanska Saturday evening, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
She was one of the hostages captured Nov. 4, 1979, when militant Iranian students stormed the US Embassy in Tehran, taking control of the Embassy compound and taking more than 60 Americans hostage. Kathryn was among those held for 444 days, one of the two women in the group.
Kathryn returned to foreign service following her hostage experience and had assignments in Austria, Germany and Australia. Upon her return to the United States, she has been on the faculty of Wartburg College and is the author of the book, “Guest of the Revolution.”
This event is for people of all ages and everyone is welcome. Lake Hanska Church is located just south and west of Hanska and east of the Lake Hanska County Park. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
