Kurtis Lee Dougherty, 22, of Tyler, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, as the result of an auto accident, two weeks before his 23rd birthday.
Kurtis Lee Dougherty, 22, of Tyler, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, as the result of an auto accident, two weeks before his 23rd birthday. Funeral Services will be held Friday, Nov. 1, 10:30 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. Visitation is Thursday, 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Tyler. Burial will be in Arco City Cemetery. Kurtis was born Nov. 9, 1990, in St. James, to Wayne and Brenda (Clausen) Dougherty. He was baptized Dec. 16, 1990, at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin, and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. When he was one-year-old he moved with his family to Tyler and then Arco. In June 1993, he moved to rural Tyler with his mother and step-father, Wayne Possail. He attended Lincoln-HI schools in Hendricks and Ivanhoe. Kurtis worked at the Log Cabin in Tyler during high school. He was employed for two years at J & B Group in Pipestone as a meat cutter and packer, and currently worked as a cook at The Brick Manor in Arco. Kurtis was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed helping his brothers with derby cars, and especially liked helping on the farm. He liked spending time with family, friends, nieces and nephews and mostly being with his little girl, Emerson. She was his world!
Kurtis is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Emerson Dougherty, and her mother, Hilary Bauling of St. James; his mother and step-father, Brenda and Wayne Possail of Tyler; his father, Wayne Dougherty of Frost; brothers, Lyle (Crystle) Dougherty and Jonathan (Sara) Dougherty, both of Pipestone and Lucas Dougherty of Streeter, N.D.; sisters, Morgan and Natalee Possail of Tyler, Debra Dougherty of Mankato, Brook Dougherty of Streeter, N.D., Amy Manna of Mankato, Mary Manna Martin of Lake Crystal and Tiffany Borntrager of Oldham, S.D.; grandmothers, Connie Clausen of St. James, Engold Diel of Lewisville and Barbara Possail of Arco; 10 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Arthur Dougherty, Sr., Lyle Clausen and Jerald Possail; brother, Wayne Paul Dougherty; and uncle, Eugene Dougherty. Blessed be his memory.
