  • The St. James Rotary Club presented both Sue Harris and Tim Peterson with a Paul Harris Fellow at the club's October 29 meeting. “Both are leaders in our group and in our community,” said Linda Buller, club president. Diann Kirby, district governor for rotary district 5950, was on hand to present the commendations. “It was so much fun to meet (Kirby),” Buller said. “She's such a charismatic person.” Joe McCabe, a rotary club member, said the Paul Harris Fellow “is named for our founder . . .a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.” “Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation,” McCabe added. Buller said Harris was a leader in the club's effort to rebuild Toddler-Town into a play area for children age five and under. “We put a lot of money and sweat-equity into (that project),” Buller said. “(Harris) is an amazing lady and very involved with the community.” Harris said, “It's an honor to be honored, but (Peterson and I) are standing with the entire club.” “We're proud to be part of the group,” she added. “It's a circular group, so it's about us working together.” For the full story, see Thursday's print edition of the St. James Plaindealer.
