Two St. James residents have been charged in connection with a kidnapping that took place Friday night.
Tina Kay Lautzenheiser, 43, last known address, 69062 340th St., and Keith Wayne Brown, 36, same address, forced the victim into a vehicle at knife-point and then left the area, according to the victim and multiple witnesses. An officer of the St. James Police Department was able to stop the vehicle within seconds of it having left the area of the assault, and the victim was unharmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of 1st Ave So., said Chief Mark Carvatt.
Lautzenheiser is charged with Kidnapping – To Facilitate Felony or Flight, a felony, 2nd Degree Assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony, false imprisonment--intentional restraint, a felony, and 5th degree assault, a misdemeanor, Carvatt said. She made her initial appearance in Watonwan County Court Monday and was being held on $30,000 bail as of Tuesday.
Brown is charged with False Imprisonment – Intentional Restraint, a felony, and 5th Degree assault – Inflect of attempt Bodily Harm, a misdemeanor, Carvatt said. Brown also made his initial appearance in court Monday, and he was being held on $5,000 bail as of Tuesday.
The next court appearance for both is scheduled for December 3 at 9 a.m. in the Watonwan County Courthouse.
