The Hickory Inn played host to the St. James Salutators December 4, as the local bar and restaurant was recognized by the goodwill ambassadors for a recent remodeling effort. “We appreciate you investing in the community,” said Salutator Molly Westman. Larry and Nancy Miller have owned the establishment for a handful of years, and they spent this summer putting in both a new floor and a highbar in the bar area. That's only stage one of the transformation, Larry Miller said. In the future, they plan to remodel the floor in the dining room and remove the bar's back wall to make it a horseshoe bar in an effort to break down the physical and psychological barrier between the bar area and the dining room, and they also want to fix potholes in the parking lot.
