Mary Stradtman's motto is, “Life is a gift,” so she plans on spending more time with members of her actual family after she leaves her “extended family” at Pioneer Bank at the end of this year Stradtman has put in 38 years at the bank, long enough to make the employees there feel like family. But, after she leaves the bank, it will give her more time to spend with her 89-year-old mother, Aurelia, who lives in New Ulm, and her mother-in-law, Angeline. She'll also have more opportunities to see her husband, Virgil, who farms and drives a transit bus here in St. James, her son, Chad, who farms with his father and works for the city's street department, and her daughter, Kristine, a second-grade teacher in Mt. Lake. “The grandkids are growing up quick, too,” she said. “I want so spend more time with the family.” For the rest of the story, including Stradtman's reflections on her many roles at the bank and CEO David Krause's thoughts on her service, please see Thursday's print edition of the St. James Plaindealer.
