The Saints were able to pull off their first win of the season grabbing them third place at their own Holiday Tournament that took place at the SJA high school last weekend.
The team went head to head with the Springfield Tigers for the first round of the tournament Friday. After trailing by only one at the half the Saints lost to Springfield 48-77, putting them in the bracket to take on Madelia Saturday for third place.
Coming into their game against Springfield the Saints were in the zone--with the teams being within points of each other the entire first half.
"I'm really proud of the way we played the first half," said Head Coach Adam Schroeder.
The Saints loss Friday night put them up against Madelia for the Saturday game for third place.
The team took on Madelia at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in hopes to grab the third place title and a chance to win their first game of the season.
The Saints came out strong right away and were in control most of the game having an eight to ten point lead. Both teams had their fair share of turnovers making it a scrappy play game.
"We played better tonight, and we were a little more patient which helped," said Schroeder.
