  • The Saints girl's basketball team was at home Monday night to play the Mountain Lake Area Wolverines at the St. James High School.
The Saints started out strong and continued to play consistently throughout the entire game. The Wolverines hot shooting showed to be too much for the Saints--shooting 60 percent from the three-point line to grab 33 of their 62 points from behind the arc.
"We seemed to be in much better control offensively tonight and kept the turnovers down," said Head Coach Adam Schroeder. "But we struggled closing out on the shooters, and they took advantage of it."
The girls went into halftime trailing the Wolverines by five with a score of 23-28. At the start of the second half they were able to dig their way back to take a ten point lead. They couldn't hold onto it long enough, before MLA battled back to get a ten point lead. It all came down to the final minutes of the game and the Saints couldn't beat the clock. They had no choice but to send MLA to the line, leading them to their victory by just five points.
