Parents' Night and Valentine's Day made for a festive crowd Friday night as St. James Area salvaged a season split from conference foe St. Peter, 81-76. St. Peter beat St. James in St. Peter earlier this year, and S.J.A. head coach Steve Walker admitted, “they're a tough match-up for us with their size inside.” The defeat snapped a modest two-game win streak for St. Peter--who were led by Tom Steidler and Kolin Bartlett--dropping them to 9-13, 3-6 in the conference. With the victory, St. James--paced by a 33 point, 10 rebound double-double from Zach Brandts--improved to 6-4 in the league, 17-5 overall. S.J.A. will play again at home on Monday, this time as the second act of a double-header with the girls basketball team. The girls game is set for 6 p.m. against Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.
