St. James High School hosted a tennis tournament Saturday morning involving the Saints, Pipestone Area, Holy Family Catholic, and the Academy of Holy Angels, and Holy Family decimated the field.

For the week of April 7, Holy Angels was ranked 10th in Class A, but Saints head coach Les Zellmann said he believes Holy Family also deserves to be ranked. In fact, with Holy Angels having a couple players missing from Saturday’s tournament, Zellmann promulgated that Holy Family was actually “the team to beat."

And indeed they were, running through the tournament by a combined score of 21-0! Though the Saints were beaten 7-0 by Holy Family, St. James defeated Pipestone and Holy Angels by a combined score of 14-0.

The tennis team was slated to play a road match at Redwood Valley later today, but, due to cold weather, the match was moved to May 2.
