Mabel Coolidge, age 97, of St. James died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Visitation will be Sunday, May 11, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Graveside services will be Monday, May 12, 2014, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with Rev. Erin Kobs officiating. Condolences may be send to the family at www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
Mabel Natalie Anderson was born in Minneapolis on March 10, 1917, the daughter of Antony & Marguritte (Larson) Anderson. She grew up in
Minneapolis where she graduated from high school. On October 7, 1939, she was united in marriage to Donald L. Coolidge. Don worked for the railroad so they made their home in many communities over the years. She had worked as a mail clerk, switchboard operator, drug store clerk, during WWII she worked as "rosie the riveter" in an aircraft factory on the west coast and then at Honeywell on the assembly line where she retired. Mabel enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Roy and Arnold Anderson; and special friends Webb and Evie Sands.
