Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota is launching a new event, A Toast to Home, Thursday at SouthFork Creek Golf Course; the event supports the organization’s mission of providing simple, safe, and affordable housing in St. James.
There’s wine, beer, and appetizer tasting along with a silent auction. Local artists from both St. James and Butterfield have pitched in to decorate handcrafted birdhouses and bird baths, which will also be for sale, said Susan Kennedy Ostendorf, resource development manager for Habitat’s South Central Minnesota branch. Clipperton Auto has donated a $150 gift certificate for the silent auction, and both McDonald’s and The Depot have also made contributions to that aspect of the evening.
The cost is $15 per person. Tickets are available in advance or at the door, and the event is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Sponsors are Downs Food Group, First National Bank, The Country Collage, and Encore Coffee Café.
