St. James Area sent eight athletes to the State Track Meet on Friday and Saturday (June 6 and 7) in St. Paul.
St. James Area sent eight athletes to the State Track Meet on Friday and Saturday in St. Paul.
The boy’s 4x800 relay team, made up of Kody Curry, Noah Pinke, Luke Tonsager and Zuriel Chacon, placed eight and received medals with a run of 8:17.92 in the finals. Zach Brandts came in ninth place in the high jump and also received a medal, jumping 6-03 in the seeding round and 6-00 in the final. Katy Hedlund placed 16th at the State girl’s high jump with her jump of 5-03. Amelia Collier ran a 12.73 which placed her 14th in the 100 meter dash.
Black Collier won both of his events, the shot put and discus throw wheelchair.
“We didn't perform as well as we would have liked, but State was a great experience,” said Coach Scott Allen. “The athletes were a little disappointed, but when you explain to them how many kids in Minnesota didn't make it to State, they realized they did something pretty amazing."
