On Tuesday, the Watonwan County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a new server for the Sheriff’s Department.

The new server, new storage space, and a three-year maintenence agreement cost $11,442. The purchase is from Dell, and it was already in the sheriff’s department’s budget.

Currently, the department has one server doing everything, and “that server is getting overused, and we’re running out of storage,” said Information Services Director Greg Walsh. He proposed the new server to take the weight off the current server, and life expectancy for a server is roughly five years.
