The St. James Youth Softball 10-and-under teams played a unique opponent Wednesday--each other.

The 10-and-under blue team competed against the 10-and-under pink team in a special 7 p.m. outing at the Fairgrounds, complete with a performance of the national anthem and a public address announcer who did the starting lineups and remained steadfast throughout the games.

“It was fun to do and a beautiful night to do it,” said Andy Swanson, the coach of the pink team. Indeed, the insufferable humidity and threatening skies of recent weeks were but a memory, as these games were played under sunny skies with a comfortable breeze.

The blue team swept the doubleheader, 15-10 in the opener, and 10-5 in game two.
