The St. James Legion continued to roll on Friday night with a 5-0 win.
The St. James Legion continued to roll on Friday night. After Thursday's 7-1 win against Mt. Lake, St. James won a 5-0 shutout against Welcome/Sher burn. Ryan Menssen pitched a gem, not allowing a baserunner to reach second base in the double-digit strikeouts performance. Great defense, particularly by Tyler Witcraft, who played catcher in the game, and center fielder Zach Brandts, also helped the Saints limit their opponents base runners.
St. James scored their first three runs in the second inning off Witcraft's bat, when Devin Wolle, Brady Halvorson and Bransen Petersen crossed the plate.
Ryan Menssen drove in Halvorson on a fielder's choice to second. With runner's at the corners, Walker Froehling hit a sac fly to the warning track in deep right for the last St. James run of the fifth inning, and the game.
St. James will play their next game Saturday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m. in their home stadium, and will play an additional game on Sunday afternoon, no matter the outcome.
