  • Legion Continues to Roll in Quest for State Birth

  • The St. James Legion team played at the district tournament this weekend in Redwood Falls and went 3-1, advancing to the next round. They will play their next game in Redwood Falls on Friday (July 25) at 1 p.m.

  • The St. James Legion team played at the district tournament this weekend in Redwood Falls and went 3-1, advancing to the next round.  
    On Sunday, St. James played against Springfield.  After putting up three in the top of the first, both team were held scoreless until the fifth inning, when St. James added one more to make the lead 4-0.  After scoring three more in the sixth, Springfield finally got on the board, and seemed to find a bit of a groove.  They scored three in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the seventh before being retired.  St. James won 8-4. Devin Wolle had three RBIs in the game thanks to a home run.  Ryan Menssen and John Olsen each picked up multiple hits in the win, and Tyler Witcraft drove in two runs.  Jacob Ziemer pitched the complete game, striking out three.
    Wolle also had a solid day on Saturday when St. James beat USC 3-2, racking up two hits and driving in a run.  Witcraft and Justin Stevens each had an RBI in the game.
    St. James lost Friday’s game to Blue Earth, despite Olsen’s five RBIs and two hits. The final score was 15-6.
    Walker Froehling stole the show in the tournament opener Thursday, with a complete game, 12 strikeout performance against Springfield.  
    Stevens, Menssen and Froehling batted in seven of the 11 St. James runs.  Olsen had two hits again in this one, and ten hits on the weekend.
     
    St. James will play their next game in Redwood Falls on Friday at 1 p.m.
