  • Northside Adds New Special Education Teacher

  • Though Jena Culhane’s aptitude for math had her leaning toward a career in accounting, and her initial major was elementary education, she’ll be teaching special education at Northside this fall following her December 2013 graduation from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
After working in a third grade classroom when she was a high school senior, accounting seemed “boring,” and she knew her future was in teaching. Then, during her general coursework, she was required to do volunteer hours working with people with disabilities and discovered she “loved it.” “I went for it, and I’m really glad I did.”
This is the latest in a series of new teacher profiles heading into the new school year. For the full story, please see the August 14 print edition of the St. James Plaindealer, and for the next new teacher profile, please see the August 21 print copy of the newspaper.
